Here is a real proof of thankful to Jesus Christ. After being sick, that person thanks God loudly and kneels to Him because of his love. But you don't need to be cure to thank God. In Matthew 14:19, 'And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.' Even Jesus Christ himself, thanks the Father then He was on earth. On this verse, the Lord of the Lord thanks the Eternal to give him five bread and two fishes, then He shares all to people follow Him.

It is allowed to thank God by your own words. Never forget that when you address to Jesus Christ, you must do it with your heart, with your soul and with your strength always. Why We Have to Thank God
In Psalm 50:23, Ehyeh said: 'Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation'. People who show thankful to our Father give Him honor and Love. And God Blesses that person. The gift we get from God if we thank Him and honor Him is his 'salvation'. It is meaning BLESSING. That's how to pray to God effectively. Pray Jesus Christ.
